Jasenovsky Earns MCCAA Player of the Week Honors

ESCANABA, MI – The Bay College Norse Volleyball Team (0-4) opened their season with a challenging schedule on the road and Jade Jasenovsky's play over four matches was recognized as she was awarded the MCCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 19-25.

Jasenovsky (FR, Menominee, MI) wore the libero jersey for the Norse in all four matches.  Against Lake Land College in the season opener, Jade had nine digs and one assisted block.  After adding a pair of digs and an assisted block against Carl Sandburg, she bounced back with a 19 dig, two assisted block effort against McHenry County College.  In the weekend finale Jasenovsky added another 19 digs in a match against South Suburban College.

Jasenovsky finished the week with 49 digs which was 4.08 digs per set.  She also had 4 assisted blocks. This is the first week for conference voting and the first time Jasenovsky received the award.

The Norse started the season 0-4 but will look to bounce back next weekend as they travel to North Central Michigan College for some nonconference action.  They face Alpena on Thursday evening, North Central Michigan on Friday morning, and end with a match against Kellogg Community College Friday afternoon.
