Burchette Named Player of the Week

ESCANABA, MI – Bay College's Ashlee Burchette (FR, Minneapolis, MN) was named the MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in the week of January 22 through January 28.

Burchette helped lead the Norse to three conference wins during the week, all at home.  On Monday against Grand Rapids she had her second highest scoring output of the year, putting up 35 points while collecting seven steals and four assists.  Bay College went on to win that contest by a score of 79-38.

On Wednesday the Norse played host to Alpena Community College and ran away with an 84-34 victory.  Three players tallied 20+ points for Bay, with Burchette leading the way with 28 points, seven steals, and six assists.

The week finished with a showdown with Delta College on Saturday.  Burchette once again led all scorers, this time putting up 31 points while dealing out five assists and taking two steals.  Bay College wound up winning that matchup 89-60.

For the week Burchette averaged 31.3 points per game.  She was efficient in doing so, hitting 56.1% of her shots, including 11 of 28 from three-point.  She was also nine of 11 from the free throw line.  She also contributed to her teammates efforts by averaging 5.0 assists per game over that stretch.  Defensively Burchette was on point, averaging 5.3 steals over that stretch.
