Rahoi Resigns as Head of Norse Softball

Ross Rahoi

ESCANABA, MI – Norse Athletics has announced that Ross Rahoi has resigned from his position as the Head Softball Coach at Bay College.

"I want to thank Bay College for giving me the opportunity to coach there the past five years," said Rahoi in a statement.  "I've grown as a coach and as a person and I couldn't be more appreciative of that.  For every coach and player that I have had the privilege to work with, thank you.  Your commitment and willingness to take a chance on our program meant the world to me.  I wish Bay College nothing but the best going forward, the future is bright here."

Rahoi has been apart of the program since its inception in the 2018-2019 season.  He served as the assistant coach for Heidi Charon in the first three years of the program.  Bay ended up with a 54-45 record over that period of time.

After Charon's resignation Rahoi took over as the Interim Head Coach in the fall of 2021.  The "interim" tag was removed following that fall season, putting him at the helm for a 28-15 regular season record in 2022.  The Norse swept Dakota County Tech in the Sub-Regional Tournament, allowing them to advance to the Region 13 Tournament in Glendive, MT.  Bay ended their season with a loss to Dawson Community College with a heartbreaking 3-1 loss in the Region Semi-Final.

Bay transitioned into Region 12 and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) in 2023 and struggled to find their footing.  The Norse went 3-9 on their spring trip.  After losing two more, it looked as though they had found some momentum, winning three in a row heading into the conference season.  Bay ran into tough competition in the MCCAA, going 6-19 in conference play.  Norse Softball finished with a 12-30 record this past season.

Rahoi steps away with a 43-47 record over two seasons.

"I would like to thank Coach Rahoi for his efforts leading the Norse program," said Norse Athletic Director Matt Johnson.  "He helped us start our softball program and has helped build it to a championship caliber level as an assistant and head coach."

Bay College will conduct an immediate national search for the next Norse Softball Coach.  Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
