WEST ALLIS, WI – The Norse Softball Team (8-18) had a tough time getting their offense going on Sunday as the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats (17-9) were able to run away with 13-1 and 9-0 wins.

The Bobcats exploded in the first, collecting 11 hits, drawing three walks, and were hit by two pitches.  They had 13 runners cross the plate in the frame.  The inning was highlighted by a two-run homer from Alyssa Trensch (FR, Hales Corners, WI), a three-run home run from Bayleigh Laabs (SO, Shawano, WI), and a two-RBI triple from Trensch.

Meanwhile the Norse bats were silent.  They managed just one hit in the contest, a solo home run by Sarah Wynn (FR, Pitt Meadows, BC) to lead off the fourth.

The Norse starting pitcher, Korey Kaukola (FR, Champion, MI), settled in after the disastrous first inning and managed to throw three scoreless innings.

Sydney Birling (FR, Appleton, WI) got the start and went three innings of no-hit ball.  She struck out seven and walked just one.  Trensch finished the game in relief, giving up just tone one hit and striking out two while walking one.

Trensch was two for four with five RBI.

The offensive woes continued for the Norse in the second game.  They picked up just four hits in the contest and were unable to bring a runner around to score.  Their defense also let them down, committing six errors in the contest.

The Bobcats spread out their scoring in this game, scoring two in the first, one in the second, and three in the fourth and fifth.  Seven of the runs they scored went as unearned, as they would collect just six hits as a team.

No one was able to collect multiple hits or RBI in the contest.

Jacey Walker (FR, Beloit, WI) pitched all five innings, striking out five and walking two.

Karlie Patron (FR. Ishpeming, MI) only gave up two earned runs and struck out two, while walking just one.

The Norse are scheduled for their home opener on Wednesday afternoon.  They welcome U.P. Rival Gogebic Community College into town for a doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
