ESCANABA, MI – Three weeks into the season, Norse Basketball has four MCCAA Northern Conference Players of the Week, including a men's and women's sweep for the third week of the season.  Ryan Sweeney was recognized for his efforts in back-to-back weeks to start the season and Joe Ofori and Anna Axtell took the honors for week three of the season.

Ryan Sweeney (SO, Green Bay, WI) received the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Northern Conference Player of the Week for the second week of the season, November 4-10.  Bay dropped its two games, but it wasn't because of the efforts of Sweeney.  Against Iowa Western Community College Ryan had 14 points, three rebounds, four assists, and a steal.  He was six of nine from the field in that game.  The Norse followed that with another tough opponent, Ellsworth Community College.  Sweeney was great on that night as well, picking up 29 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.  He was nine of 18 from the floor.  For the week Ryan had 21.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, three assists, and shot 55.5% from the floor.

The week of November 11-17 Sweeney helped lead the Norse over their U.P. rivals, Gogebic Community College.  His game leading 26 points on eight of 11 shooting paced the Norse.  He also grabbed 12 rebounds and three assists.  Ryan connected on all three of his three-point attempts.

Anna Axtell (FR, Menominee, MI) is the first women's player from Bay College to receive the honor in the 2024-2025 season.  Anna earned the honors for her efforts in the week of November 18-24.  She helped lead the Norse to a win over Lake Region State.  Against the NJCAA Division 1 opponent, she stepped up with 24 points, ten rebounds, two assists, three steals, and another blocked shot.  She was impressive from the floor, hitting ten of 12 overall and connected on all three from behind the arc.

Joe Ofori (SO, Shakopee, MN) returned from injury in time to help the Norse beat the Division 1 Lake Region State.  Ofori had a double-double, picking up 22 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.  He shot 46.2% in the game.  His efforts earned him the Player of the Week honors for the week of November 18-24.
