ESCANABA, MI – Bay College's Baril Mawo (SO, Manchester, NH) was named MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the week of December 11-17.

The Norse played two games during that timeframe, as they hosted the 2023 Holiday Classic sponsored by The Terrace Bay Hotel.  Bay won big in both matchups.

On Friday evening Baril scored 12 points and had eight rebounds in just 12 minutes of playing time.  He was six of nine shooting in the game and also had an assist and steal.  The Norse went on to pummel Western Technical College by a final score of 108-58.

On Saturday afternoon the Norse ran away with the game again, once again limiting playing time for Mawo.  In 20 minutes on the floor he was 12 of 16 shooting and recorded a double-double.  Baril's final stat line for the day would have him with 25 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, and two steals.  Bay beat Gogebic Community College by a final of 108-59.

For the weekend Mawo averaged 18.5 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and 1.5 steals per game, all while only averaging 16 minutes a game.  He shot 72.0% from the floor for the weekend.

The Norse enter a holiday break with a 10-1 record.  They are in action next on December 29 and 30 in a classic tournament in Wisconsin Dells, WI.
