VERO BEACH, FL – The Bay College Norse (3-6) snapped a five-game losing streak in the second game of today's action.  After losing to The College of Lake County by a score of 16-6, the Norse took down Nyack College (0-6) by a final score of 17-5.

The Norse pitching staff struggled for the second game in a row, giving up runs in the first four innings.  Jake Harmon (SO, Wauconda, IL) had a big day, hitting a homerun and driving in six runs.

Bay College were able to come back from four down in the bottom of the first, backed by a Ben Snyder two-RBI double.  The Norse would score six runs, but could not stop the Lake County offense as they exploded for 16 runs, ending the game after five.

Nicolas Goebert (FR, Werl, Germany) got the start and took the loss.  He gave up ten runs, nine earned, on nine hits and five walks in two in one third inning.  Bay got two hits from Lucas Weinert (SO, Gladstone, MI) and David Ibn Ezra (FR, Tel Aviv, Israel).

The Norse jumped out to a lead in the first inning.  Back-to-back, two-out, RBI doubles from Tanner Halvorson (SO, Eau Claire, WI) and Kyler Moir (SO, Hillman, MI) got things going.  Richard Wayka (FR, Keshena, WI) and Jeff Allen (SO, Watervliet, MI) each had RBI singles, and the Norse took a four-run lead.

Nyack answered with two in the second, but Bay would build a lead.  In the Norse third Dane VanDenHeuvel (SO, Norway, MI) launched a triple to deep left, and scored on an Allen single.  VanDenHeuvel doubled in the fourth to drive in a run, and the Norse managed to push across another run in the fifth.  The sixth put the game away.  Bay collected six hits, three walks, and got hit by two pitches and sent ten runs to the plate.

Scotty Adams (FR, Orillia, ON) got the start on the mound and pitched six strong innings.  He gave up six hits, three walks, and three earned runs while striking out seven.  Sam Schneider (FR, Cheboygan, MI) pitched the final inning.

Allen ended his game three for four with five RBI.  Ibn Ezra had a two for three day with one RBI.  VanDenHeuvel had the two extra base hits, two RBI, and scored four runs.  Wayka also collected two hits in three at bats and had an RBI.

The Norse continue their spring trip on Thursday with a pair of games at Dodgertown in Vero Beach.  They square off with Ancilla College at 1 pm, before a rematch with Hagerstown Community College at 4 pm.
