Norse Cross Country Ready to Open Season

2020 Cross Country Team

ESCANABA, MI – The 2020 Norse Cross Country Team is set to begin their campaign.  Under the direction of Head Coach Jim Murtha, who is entering his third year at the helm of the program, the Norse will feature a roster with just one returning harrier.

The lone returning team member is Olivia Anderson (SO, Menominee, MI).  After an injury-plagued season a year ago, she will look to lead a group of U.P. natives.  Bree Arsenault (FR, Hermonsville, MI), Sandra Boulton (FR, Carney, MI), and Kaitlyn Millin (FR, Trenary, MI) round out the women's roster.

Four new faces will take the reigns on the men's roster.  James Alexander (FR, Sault Ste. Marie, MI), Zach Rose (FR, Escanaba, MI), Matt Sedenquist (FR, Gladstone, MI), and John Stevenson III (FR, Escanaba, MI) have been putting in the hard work to get the season underway.

"We can't wait to get the season started and to find out where we are with the training we have done," said Coach Murtha.  "Everyone is anxious to establish a time and just keep improving on it from there."

The Norse have altered their schedule this season in an attempt to reduce travel.  The season kicks off on Friday, September 18 at Kirtland Community College.  Bay College will return to the same site two weeks later for a second meet on October 2.  This year will mark the return of the Bay College Invitational.  That event will be run on October 10.  The regular season schedule wraps up on October 17 when the Norse run in the Jayhawk Invitational at Muskegon Community College.
