DEARBORN, MI – After being swept in three straight sets on Friday at Macomb Community College (4-2), the Norse Volleyball Team (6-6) got back in the win column on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Henry Ford College (1-7).

On Friday the Norse were up against a Macomb team that came out swinging, and swinging it well.  Macomb hit on eight kills and had just two attack errors in the first set, and followed that up with an incredible 15 kills in 30 attack attempts in the second set.  The Norse were not deterred but just not quite as clean as their host in the first two sets, picking up a few ball handling and receiving errors as Macomb won a tightly contested first set 25-23, and followed that up with a 25-18 win in the second set.

Bay's offense got stronger as the day went on and put up one of their best attacks of the season in the third set.  Fifteen kills in 27 attempts and only four errors was good for a .407 attack percentage.  The Norse missed from the serving line however, committing five errors in the set.  It was enough of a factor to allow Macomb to squeak out a 25-23 victory in the third set, sealing the sweep.

Piper Monroe (FR, Menominee, MI) tied a career high with eight kills and had no attack errors in 11 attempts.  Amber Caylor (SO, Wausaukee, WI) tallied 13 assists and three aces, while Madison Johnson (FR, Florence, WI) ended up with 11 assists.  Tori Jandt (SO, Peshtigo, WI) had 15 digs.

The Norse bounced back nicely on Saturday.  Their attack was much more efficient picking up ten kills in the first two sets and had an attack percentage over .200 in the first and third sets.  After taking the first two sets pretty handily (25-16 and 25-15), Bay found themselves in a little bit more of a fight in the third set.  In the end they would win the final set by a score of 25-21 to earn a weekend split.

Kylee Tadisch (SO, Coleman, WI) had a strong outing with eight kills and just one error in 22 attempts and was also credited with a block.  Olyvia Saxton (FR, Ithaca, MI) also ended with eight kills and added an ace and an assisted block.  Caylor wound up with 19 assists, three aces, and eight digs, while Jandt led the defensive effort once again with 14 digs.

The Norse will begin MCCAA Northern Conference play on Wednesday with a trip to Alpena Community College (1-5).  That match will start at 6:30 pm.  Bay returns home on Saturday to host Delta College at 11:30 am.
