ESCANABA, MI – The Norse Women's Basketball Team (16-7, 8-0 MCCAA) extended their winning streak to 12 games with a decisive victory over the North Central Michigan College Timberwolves (1-19, 0-8 MCCAA) by a final score of 93-23.

The Norse never trailed in the event and put the game away early.  A 17-2 run to start the game put the Norse in control.  Though the Timberwolves would close the lead to ten at the end of the first quarter, Bay rattled off 16 points to start the second quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach.

The Timberwolves struggled to find an answer to Bay's full-court pressing defense in the first half, turning the ball over 21 times during that timeframe.  That allowed the Norse to get up more than twice as many field goal attempts than NCMC, as Bay shot the ball 50 times compared to the Timberwolves' 21 shot attempts in the first half.  It allowed the Norse to carry a 37-11 lead into the locker room at halftime.

North Central never found their footing as Bay continued to go on long scoring runs in the second half.  The Norse defense never relented giving up just 12 points in the second half.  Bay's offense picked up the pace as well, shooting 51.3% in the latter half of the game after only hitting on 32.0% of their shots early.  It allowed the Norse to cruise to a 70-point victory.

Bay forced 44 turnovers in the game and outrebounded their opponent 40-30, including 21 offensive rebounds.

Ashlee Burchette (FR, Minneapolis, MN) led the Norse with 30 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and five steals.  Siena Lingle (FR, Marquette, MI) finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals.  Jada Freudinger (FR, Norway, MI) added ten points and five rebounds, while Brooklyn Phillips (FR, Peshtigo, WI) scored ten points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Timberwolves were led by Gloria House (FR, Johannesburg, MI) who ended her night with seven points.  Lindsey Cross (FR, East Jordan, MI) grabbed seven rebounds for NCMC.

Bay will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Grand Rapids Community College on Saturday.  Bay hosted the Raiders back on January 22 and ended up with a comfortable 79-38 victory.  The rematch will tip at 1 pm.
