ESCANABA, MI – The Bay College Women's Basketball Team (9-19, 5-9 MCCAA) were outpaced from the start against the MCCAA Northern Conference Champion Mid Michigan Lakers (24-3, 13-0 MCCAA) on Tuesday night as they fell in their final regular season game by a score of 78-45.

The Lakers never trailed as they started the game on a 7-0 run and led 17-7 after the first quarter.  Jade Kauffman (SO, Houghton Lakes, MI) got hot in the second quarter, hitting three of four from behind the three-point arc.  Her nine points in the quarter helped lead the Lakers to a 42-18 halftime lead.

The Norse had their brightest moments in the third quarter when they matched Mid Michigan's 14 point output by besting them in all three shooting categories.  Bay was five of 15 from the floor, one of three from three-point, and three of five from free throw while the Lakers were five of 17 from the field, one of seven from three, and three of seven from the charity stripe over the same period.

In the end it wasn't enough as the Lakers continued to roll in the fourth quarter and the home team was never really able to get back into it.

Mid Michigan hit 11 three-pointers in the game and forced 20 Bay turnovers as they went on to the big win.

Bay, who was already playing shorthanded, lost another starter due to injury early in the first quarter.

The Norse were led by Alaina Trudeau (SO, Gladstone, MI) who was two of three from three and had 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Alyssa Cretton (SO, Niagara, WI), who also had a double-double, finished with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Kauffman ended up going five of eight from behind the arc to end her night with 15 points.  Bailey Vissman (SO, Stanton, MI) finished with 14 points, while Brooke Brauher (SO, Big Rapids, MI) score 12 points and seven rebounds.  Satori Griffin (SO, Mt. Pleasant, MI) had ten points and seven rebounds.

In their last home game of the season the Norse honored four sophomores who will end their Bay College career this season.  They are Alyssa Cretton, Stephanie Frappy (SO, Bonduel, WI), Tianna Taylor (SO, Gwinn, MI) and Alaina Trudeau.
