Norse Stumble On the Road

Brooke Mannor dribbles to her right, a defender chases her

AUBURN HILLS, MI - The Bay College Women's Basketball Team (4-7) lost the first game of its road trip to Lower Michigan on Friday, falling to the Oakland Community College Raiders (5-1) by a score of 66-37.

The final score was deceptive as the Norse were within eleven points in the fourth quarter before the Raiders scored the final 18 points of the game.

The Norse fell behind, 15-5, in early part of the second quarter before Bree Arsenault (FR, Hermansville, MI) and Brooke Mannor (SO, Gwinn, MI) hit back-to-back triples to bring Bay within 15-11. The Norse could get no closer as Isabel Dugal (FR, Waterford, MI) scored ten points, with a three-point basket and an "and-one" basket among those points. It was 33-22 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Mannor hit another triple and Holly Wardynski (SO, Ontonagon, MI) hit from deep, But Mileisha Rodriguez-Rosado (SO, Waterford, MI) scored twice and the Raiders opened up a 47-31 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Wardynski made another triple and Lauryn Bloniarz (SO, Perronville, MI) scored on the baseline to bring Bay to within 48-37 with seven minutes to play. It was downhill from there.

Wardynski led the Norse with 15 points, including seven of eight from the foul line. Bloniarz added eight points. Mannor chipped in six points.

Oakland CC had eleven different players score. Dugal had 12, while Kaylee Wendel (FR, Howell, MI) and Olivia Ramsey (FR, Clinton Township, MI) both added 11.

The Norse will look to get back on track tomorrow afternoon.  They travel to Glenn Oaks Community College for a noon tip off.
