Norse Women Win Big on the Road

Jordan Kraemer leads a fast break down the floor, several players in pursuit

MANITOWOC, WI - The Bay College Norse Women's Basketball Team (17-6) would see their first action in two weeks, and would win their fourth straight game, taking a 70-41 victory over the Silver Lake Lakers on the road on Saturday night.

The shorthanded Lakers would feel the effects of playing their second game in as many days.  The well-rested Norse would break a tie and score eight unanswered points to end the first quarter.  The Norse would continue to shut down the Silver Lake attack to begin the second and a 17-0 run through the end of the first quarter and into the second would put Bay on top for good.  The road team would maintain their double-digit lead and go to the locker room with a score of 40-25.

Offensive woes would continue to plague the home team in the second half.  They would manage just 16 points, as Bay would continue to build on their lead.  The Norse would create 30 Silver Lake turnovers in the game, and hit 33.3% of their shots in the matchup.  Meanwhile the Lakers would hit on just 23.3% of their attempts from the floor.  With just seven players suited up, Silver Lake would face foul trouble throughout.  Two players would foul out of the contest, forcing three others to play all 40 minutes.  In the end the Norse attack was just too much for the home standing Lakers, as Bay College would win by 29 points.

Jordan Kraemer (SO, Norway, MI) would lead the Norse with 17 points.  JuliAnn Wickman (FR, Felch, MI) added 16 points, while Keshia Davis (FR, St. Ignace, MI) would end her night with nine points.

Hailee Kotche (SR, Manitowoc, WI) would lead all scorers with 23 points while grabbing 12 rebounds, blocking five shots, and colleting three steals.  Kotche would reach the 1000 point career milestone with her efforts.  Angie Kudick (SO, Kewaunee, WI) would add 11 points and four assists.

The Norse will be on the road on Monday evening as they travel to Finlandia University.  The game against the Lions is scheduled to start at 5:30.
