IRONWOOD, MI - The Bay Norse Women's Basketball Team (15-6) would use a third quarter surge to pull away from the Gogebic Community College Samsons (11-11) on the road.  The Norse would end up taking the matchup by a final score of 68-49.

The two teams looked to be evenly matched early in the contest, as the Samsons would lead by just one after the first quarter.  With the score deadlocked inside the final minute of the first half, the Norse would get two quick baskets and go to the locker room up 33-29 at the half.

Bay would start to open up that lead in the third, outscoring their hosts 18-11 over that period.  They would then push the lead to double-digits in the fourth with five unanswered points.  The Samsons would not be able to match their guests in the fourth, as they would score just nine points, and fall by a deficit of 19 points.

The Norse would not shoot it particularly well from the free throw line, but they would still have an advantage as they would make more than their opponents attempted.  Bay College would go 17 of 28 from the charity stripe, while the Samsons would hit on 12 of 15 free throw attempts.  Bay would turn the ball over 21 times, but would force 27 Gogebic miscues, which would result in another advantage for the Norse.  Bay would end the game with 59 field goal attempts (22 of 59, 37.3%), while Gogebic would get just 43 shots at goal (15 of 43, 34.9%).

Jordan Kraemer (SO, Norway, MI) would lead the Bay College effort with 13 points and four rebounds.  Haley Trudell (FR, Rock, MI) would hit three from behind the arc for nine points, while Kelsea Ackerman (FR, Munising, MI) went six of six from the free throw line and end her night with eight points.

The Samsons' Bailey Froberg (SO, L'Anse, MI) would lead all scorers with 26 points.  Arianna White (FR, Kenosha, WI) ended her night with 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Aiyana Nickel (FR, Wakefield, MI) would grab 11 rebounds in the contest.

The Norse will return home for a Saturday afternoon matchup with UW-Green Bay, Marinette.  That game is scheduled for a 1 PM tip.
