Norse Bounce Back, Steamroll Vermilion

IRONWOOD, MI – The Bay College Women's Basketball Team (4-4) would rebound from a Saturday afternoon loss to win big on Sunday, beating the Vermilion Community College Ironwomen (0-4) by a score of 70-37 in Ironwood, MI.

The Norse would take control early in the matchup, jumping out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter.  Bay College would extend their lead in the second quarter, giving up just six points in that timeframe to take a 22 point lead at the half.

Aided by solid shooting, the Norse would extend their lead in the second half.  Bay College would shoot 41.5% from the floor in the game, including seven of twenty from behind the three-point arc.  Vermilion would hit just 14 of their 51 attempts in the game, good for just 27.5%.  The Ironwomen would shoot it well from the charity strip, but would only get to the free throw line five times, converting on four of them.  The Norse would shoot 12 times from the line, converting nine attempts.  Bay College would also outrebound Vermillion 44-33, a number that would include 14 offensive rebounds for the Norse.  All of those advantages would allow Bay to cruise to a 33-point victory.

Jordan Kraemer (SO, Norway, MI) would lead all scorers with 16 points.  Paige Welch (SO, Bark River, MI) would add 11 points, and Keisha Davis (FR, St. Ignace, MI) would grab eight rebounds for the Norse. 

Bailey Bassette would score 13 poitns, grab five rebounds, and collect five steals for the Ironwomen.  Terri Sutton would add nine points and seven rebounds.

The Norse will take part in the St. Clair County Classic this coming weekend.  On Friday they will face Mid Michigan College at 2 PM.  On Saturday they will face the host St. Clair County Community College at 3 PM.
