TITUSVILLE, FL - The Bay Norse Softball Team (3-0) would sweep a doubleheader against Itasca Community College (0-4).  The Norse would have to make a big comeback in game one to win 10-6, and kept the momentum rolling as they would pound out 19 runs in the nightcap.

GAME 1 - BAY COLLEGE - 10, ITASCA CC - 6

Itasca would grab the lead in the second when they got an RBI single from Claudia Burns.  They would take control of the game with a five run third.  Itasca would take advantage of three Bay College errors and drew threw walks in the inning, putting the Norse down by six runs.

The Norse would answer in the bottom of the third.  A two out single from Jerrika McAlpine (SO, Escanaba, MI) would drive in two and cut the lead to four.  An Emily Bruntjens (SO, Escanaba, MI) sacrifice fly in the fourth continued the Norse comeback attempt.  The fifth inning would begin with a walk, and a one out single to set up another scoring opportunity.  With two outs, Kaitlyn Hardwick (FR, Gladstone, MI) stepped up and doubled to left to drive in two runs.  Emily LaFave (SO, Escanaba, MI) followed that up by smashing a double to center to tie the game.  Eve LaFleche (FR, Hillman, MI) grounded a 3-1 pitch into left to drive home LaFave, giving the Norse their first lead of the game.  RBI's by McAlpine and Hardwick in the sixth would give the Norse insurance runs, allowing the Norse to seal the victory.

Rhiley Hubert (SO, Rapid River, MI) earned the win for the Norse.  She gave up five hits, just one earned run, while striking out three and walking four.  McAlpine finished with three RBI to go with her three hits in four at bats.  Hardwick also knocked in three runs in her two for three effort.  LaFave doubled twice in four at bats and was credited with two RBI, while LaFleche went two for four with one RBI.

GAME 2 - BAY COLLEGE - 19, ITASCA CC - 4

While the Norse would grab the lead early, and continue to build on it throughout, it was an 11 run fourth inning that would decide the game.  McAlpine had two singles and three RBI in the inning, Hardwick singled and drove in a run on an infield single, and Beth Gannigan (FR, Coleman, WI) would single in a run.  The big blow came with the Norse already up 12-3.  Richelle Vandeville (FR, Rapid River, MI) would hit a grand slam to centerfield, the first home run in program history, allowing the Norse to cruise to victory.

Harwick finished the game five for five with five RBI, three runs scored, and a double.  McAlpine would go four for four with three RBI, while Vandeville finished two for four with four RBI.  Bruntjens scored four times in the game, and was three for five with an RBI and a triple.  Gannigan collected two hits in four at bats, driving in one and scoring once.

Lexi Winling (FR, Galdstone, MI) gave up four runs, two earned in five innings of work.  She gave up six hits, walked one, and struck out seven.
