ESCANABA, MI – The Norse Men's Basketball Team (13-4, 3-0 MCCAA) stayed undefeated early in conference play with a 90-56 victory over the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks (7-10, 1-2 MCCAA) on Saturday afternoon.

Bay College would never trail in the game and jumped out to a 14-point lead early in the first half.  A 9-0 Jayhawk run made it look as though the game would get interesting from there, but the Norse responded with a run of their own.  The Norse held Muskegon scoreless for a nearly seven-minute stretch, allowing them to break the game open with an 18-0 run.  The first half would end with Bay in the lead by a score of 49-26.

An early 12-0 Norse run in the second quarter set down any notions of a Muskegon comeback.  The home team continued to dominate in the second half building up to a 35-point lead at one point.  Bay would have the advantage in just about every statistical category, going on to cruise to a 34-point victory.

For the second straight game the Norse would shoot over 50%, this time hitting on 38 of 75 attempts.  Bay was ten of 13 from the free throw line, but did not shoot it well from behind the arc, hitting just four of 24 attempts.  The Norse won the rebounding battle 45-31.  They would also force 12 turnovers while only turning the ball over four times.

Twelve different players wound up scoring for Bay.  Jaylen Flaniken (SO, Troy, MI) led the way with 18 points.  Lamar Grayson (SO, Richfield, MN) followed him with 17 points.  Colin Hudson (FR, Escanaba, MI) ended up with 11 points, while Tyler Creger (FR, Owatonna, MN) pulled down nine rebounds.

Jadkiss Lewis (FR, Kalamazoo, MI) ended up with 14 points and five rebounds for the Jayhawks.  Vern Nash, who entered the contest averaging 24.2 points per game, only had 14 points and three rebounds.

The Norse will carry a four-game win streak into Wednesday's contest at Alpena Community College, which is scheduled for a7 pm tip.  Alpena is 1-9 on the season and is winless in three games in conference.  Grand Rapids Community College ran away with a 106-65 victory over the Lumberjacks on Saturday afternoon.
