ESCANABA, MI – The Bay College Norse (15-8) would have their chances late, but fall in a tight battle, dropping a decision at home to the Silver Lake College Lakers (4-20) by a score of 80-78.

In a game that saw 12 ties and 15 lead changes, the biggest lead of the day was with 11:07 left in the first half.  A 13-0 run would give Silver Lake a 21-12 lead at that point, but Bay would fight back.  The Norse would hold a one-point lead at the half.

With time winding down, the Norse would cling to a 63-61 lead.  A two-minute scoring drought would allow the Lakers to go on an 8-0 run and reclaim the lead.  With just over a minute to play, the Norse would cut into that lead and find themselves trailing by just one point.  A missed opportunity after a defensive stop would force Bay to extend the game and put the Lakers on the free throw line.  After converting on their attempts, Silver Lake would give up an open look to tie the game, but the shot would not fall, forcing the Norse to foul once again.  This time however, the Lakers would miss both free throws, opening a door for the home team.  With time winding down, and Bay trailing by three, the Lakers would elect to put the Norse on the free throw line and not risk a three-point attempt from Bay.  After the foul, a technical foul was called on Bay, allowing Silver Lake two more free throws.  They would convert those two attempts, putting the Lakers up by five.  The costly mistake would make the buzzer beating three-pointer by Alonzo Fields (FR, Milwaukee, WI) a moot point, as the Lakers would end up with an 80-78 win.

Dre Tuominen (FR, Negaunee, MI) would lead all scorers with 22 points, while grabbing nine rebounds and being credited with seven assists.  Fields would end with 21 points, ten rebounds, and four steals.  Kobi Barnes (FR, Milwaukee, WI) would also end with a double-double, scoring 14 points and collecting 11 rebounds, while Damian Richmond (FR, Rock, MI) would score ten points.

The Lakers would end with two players scoring 21 pionts, Marcellus Duckworth (FR, Milwaukee, WI) and Dreshawn Dorsey (FR, Pflugerville, TX).
