ESCANABA, MI – Norse Baseball's Josh Blake (SO, Seffner, FL) was named the MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week for his efforts for the week of April 8-14.

The Norse played four nonconference games during the week, splitting both days of games.  Blake made his presence known as he played in two of those games, both of which were victories for the Norse.

On Thursday Josh helped the Norse bounce back after being shutout in the opener of a doubleheader with Minnesota Post Grad.  He was three for five in that contest with two doubles, five RBI, and a run scored as he helped spark the Bay offense.  The Norse pounded out 16 hits in the game and won by a final of 13-5.

On Friday the Norse had to fight from behind against Viterbo's Developmental Team.  Blake was part of a big fourth inning that closed the gap.  He singled to keep the inning alive and scored later in the inning to cut the lead to one.  He also drew a walk in a big fifth inning and scored one of the go-ahead runs.  Bay went on to win by a score of 8-4.  Blake was one for three with two runs scored and a walk.

Blake was flawless in the field as well, playing 14 innings at third base and did not commit an error.

For the week Blake was four for eight with two doubles, five RBI, and three runs scored.

The Norse continue conference play this weekend with their home opener against Mid Michigan on Friday and Saturday.
