ESCANABA, MI – Bay College's Zach Gibson (FR, Nassau, Bahamas) has been named the MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of March 25-31.

Gibson helped lead the Norse to a 3-1 record over Muskegon Community College in the opening weekend of conference play.  In game one he picked up three hits in four at bats, including a double and drove in three runs.  Bay College erased a four-run deficit late and came back to win 11-9.

In game two Gibson doubled in the third inning to drive in a run that tied the game.  He ended up with a pair of hits in three trips to the plate.  The Norse dropped that game by a final score of 3-2.

Bay's offense exploded for ten runs in the third game.  Though he was held hitless in the blowout win, Gibson was hit by a pitch and scored twice in the contest as his team took a 10-0 victory.

In the final game of the series the Norse needed another late effort to come back on the Jayhawks.  Gibson was the spark of a four-run sixth inning, leading it off with a double to right.  He was two for two with a walk and two runs scored as Bay fought back to win by a final score of 6-4.

For the week Gibson had seven hits in 11 at bats (.636 batting average).  Three of those hits were doubles.  He also walked once and was hit by a pitch once, and only struck out once, which was good for a .692 on base percentage.  He had four RBI and amassed a .909 slugging percentage for the week.

The Norse continue conference play at Grand Rapids Community College on Friday and Saturday.  For up-to-date scores, statistics, and news go to www.baycollege.edu.
